Big Party at the Pier
The fog lifted just in time for John's show at the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, during the city's annual Polynesian Festival. So many people came that they had to sit on the stage because there was no room anywhere else.

Fireworks on Centerstage
John kicked off the 4th of July festivities at Ala Moana Shopping Center with some sparks of his own. He got the crowd of thousands fired up to celebrate America's birthday in Honolulu.

Talk to the Animals
It's called Wild at the Zoo for a reason. Each summer, thousands turn out for Roy Sakuma's series of concerts on the great lawn at the Honolulu Zoo. Kids can run free and the rest of the animals hide out in their cages until everyone goes home.

Kaimuki High School Graduation
29 years after standing on the same stage at the Waikiki Shell with his cap and gown, John returned to help the class of 2010 celebrate their high school graduation.

Olukai Ho'olaule'a
Paddlers from all around got together at Kanaha Beach Park on Maui for canoe and stand-up paddle races, with a big celebration after the hard work in the ocean was done. Olukai makes fantastic, quality shoes for lifeguards, surfers, paddlers and other water enthusiasts, including John.

One thing is for sure, the Aussies know how to throw a party. John played the massive Bluesfest blues and roots festival in Byron Bay Australia, both on his own stages and sitting in for a few songs with Jack Johnson.

Whale of a Day in Kihei
Every year, Kalama Park on Maui jams about 15,000 or more people into the seaside town of Kihei to celebrate the humpback whales, listen to music and eat food until the sun goes down.

When a bunch of bad boys who've done good get together to inspire others to do the same, it can make quite an impact. That's what happened at Wahiawa Middle School on Oahu when John joined pro surfers and others to help keep kids on the right track.

Well, it went to someone else, but it was still good fun supporting cousin Amy Hanaiali'i, who was nominated for her album "Friends and Family." John joined Amy and her band at the Grammy Museum in LA.

KWXX Ho'olaule'a
The Ho'olaule'a is when Hilo residents jam the streets of downtown and come together as a community for food, music, crafts and good fun. John and his band played for about 10,000 happy campers before the rain came. Check out the video of "Missing You."

Triple Bill at the Triple Door

Jammin at World Fest
Families, hippies, yippies, even yuppies turned out in droves to camp, eat, drink beer and of course, listen to great music at the incomparable California World Fest in the Sierra Foothills. John played 3 shows here over the weekend and got to hear some of his own favorite bands as well.

Oahu Slack Key Festival
Each year, Milton Lau brings together the finest guitarists in Hawaii and brings them around to various islands to showcase the art of ki ho'alu, or slack key guitar. At the Oahu festival, John invited half the lineup to join him on stage for Island Style and a few other songs.

Sustainability on Molokai
Walter Ritte and other legendary residents of Molokai invited John to play a concert to raise awareness for a sustainable lifestyle on Hawaii's Friendly Isle. John played the concert with his cousin Amy Hanaiali'i and ended up practicing some sustainability of his own, with his fly fishing rod and reel.

Haul Away on Martha's Vineyard
The Black Dog makes great shirts and coffee cups, but they also host a pretty fantastic concert series aboard the Tall Ship Alabama each summer. The boat sets sail on Vineyard Sound at sunset with John helming the music and a great crew taking care of everything else.

Everyone loves Yoshi's in Oakland. The great Japanese food, the warm atmosphere and the fantastic acoustics make it an East Bay favorite. John, Ledward and Hapa sold out 4 shows in a row here with their powerhouse lineup.

Music on the Halfshell

Hana Hou at Keauhou

Trader Vic's in LA
Trader Vic's is reminiscent of Hollywood's bygone days of glamour and schmoozing where movie deals were made over mai tai's. It's now located in Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles and caters to a different crowd.
