One of the benefits of working for Sprint is the party you get to go to if you sell alot of phones. The company asked John to come play for their top sales people at Clear Channel radio's new venue, The Hall, in Honolulu. He joked that there probably weren't alot of Verizon customers in the house that night.

Palolo in the House
I used to live Palolo long time when I was small...if you know that unofficial verse to Island Style, you know that John spent his time in school doing alot of things other than studying. But when he returned to his alma mater, Jarrett Middle School, he had some sound advice for the kids when he helped Sprint present 20 ukuleles to the music department.

The story on Anthology
Rather than taking our word for it, here's what one fan emailed after seeing John's show: "We were thrilled to learn about his concert at Anthology and Tuesday's appearance did not disappoint. He was nothing short of absolutely fabulous!! The evening ended way too soon. We are fans forever. The venue was also great. It was the perfect birthday gift for my husband. As I write this we're listening to the latest CD. I must tell you we have not been to any concert in years because there's just no person or group that has really captured our attention. I can assure you that we will be in the John Cruz audience again and again. Thank you for a perfect evening."

Best singer-songwriter in Hawaii
Respected veteran music writer Derek Paiva and the staff at Hawaii Magazine have named John the "Best Singer-Songwriter from Hawaii." As if the honor weren't enough, the article continues on to lavishly praise John's soulful style. "Cruz is one of the finest contemporary singer-songwriter-musicians you'll hear, Hawaii-based or otherwise. Listen to Cruz's Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning 2007 CD One of These Days for proof. Cruz's honeyed, husky voice is a marvel -- real world honest whether touching on subjects painfully personal or sweetly hopeful. Vintage instruments and recording equipment coat it all in a warm, timeless musical glow. We're serious fans."
